Backend Engineer & AI Engineer
I build the invisible machinery that powers great products — resilient APIs, distributed systems, and infrastructure that scales without drama.
I build systems designed for scale, reliability, and the inevitable 3am incident that never comes.
High-performance server-side applications built with clean architecture, proper separation of concerns, and code that junior devs can actually maintain.
Robust, versioned, and documented APIs that developers love to integrate. Built with security, rate limiting, and proper error handling from day one.
Schema design, query optimization, and data modeling that keeps your app fast as you grow from 100 to 10 million records.
Containerized deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure that lets your team ship with confidence, every single time.
I'm Henry Nnamani, a backend engineer based in Enugu, Nigeria. I've spent years building the kind of systems that quietly power great products — the ones nobody notices until they go down.
My obsession is reliability. Clean APIs, efficient queries, infrastructure that doesn't keep you up at night. I care deeply about code quality, developer experience, and writing systems that the next engineer (or future me) can actually understand.
Four years deep in the backend trenches. These are the tools I reach for first.
Contributed to an award-winning femtech startup building biodegradable menstrual pads — grant winner at the Enugu Tech Hackathon. Engineered the menstrual cycle prediction system using historical cycle data to deliver personalized health insights for users. Built the end-to-end product sales and order management feature, enabling customers to purchase biodegradable pads directly through the platform.
Leading the backend engineering team at a trade journaling platform built for active traders. Architected and delivered core features including a trade overview engine with parallel computation for real-time PnL analytics, win rate tracking, streak detection, and drawdown analysis. Built the journal system, subscription management, and chart upload infrastructure. Designed scalable REST APIs with a focus on performance, maintainability, and clean architecture.
Built the full e-commerce platform for Balgs — a premium iPhone storefront serving customers across Nigeria. Engineered the Spring Boot backend handling product catalogue management, order processing, and a curated add-ons system that lets customers attach cases, AppleCare+, and accessories at checkout in a single flow. Developed the Next.js storefront with a clean, conversion-focused UI — hero sections, model lineup pages, and a smooth checkout experience with nationwide delivery support.
Credentials earned along the way.
A selection of projects that kept me debugging at ungodly hours — all worth it.
An anonymous confession platform with six emotional categories — Confession, Regret, Obsession, Secret, Shame, Desire. No accounts. No names. Just honesty.
A sanitation billing portal for a 44-room lodge. Tenants self-register by floor and room, pay their monthly levy via PIN, and admins track collection in real time.
A verified campus housing marketplace for students in Nsukka and Enugu. Replaces WhatsApp chaos with filterable listings, transparent cost breakdowns, and direct agent contact.
Whether it's an API that needs to handle a million requests or a system that needs to not fall over at 2am — I'm interested.
